Daniel currently serves as the Corporate Strategic Advisor at Gunung Capital, where he plays a key role in shaping the firm’s investment direction, driving portfolio strategy, and identifying long-term value creation opportunities across infrastructure-related and sustainable industries.
Previously, he was the Chief Strategy Officer at Gunung Raja Paksi (GRP), one of Indonesia’s largest steel producers. He led GRP’s new transformational brownfield project in establishing one of the most environmentally friendly steel plant aiming to produce the lowest carbon steels in the region. Previously Daniel was the global strategy lead of one of Cargill’s global animal nutrition groups leading a number of global and regional strategy projects with a focus on organic and inorganic growth initiatives. His earlier role in Cargill was the Head of M&A in Greater China covering Cargill’s M&A projects for all business units. Before Cargill Daniel was an Executive VP and Board Secretary of a leading listed agriculture company in China, leading various functions including Strategy & Business Development, BoD Office & Investor Relations, Legal, Internal Audit and Financing. Daniel’s earlier career was 12 years with PwC in Australia and China, specializing in M&A Advisory mostly in China-Overseas cross-border deals.
Daniel has experience in a number of industries with different types of organization in Asian and western countries. Daniel completed his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and is a qualified Chartered Accountant with a Postgraduate Diploma. He is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese.
